Hose and hard line service

The service truck carries hose stock and a crimper, so a blown line is usually cut, crimped, and back under pressure in one visit, anywhere in the metro.

Hose failures are the flat tires of hydraulic work: sudden, messy, and almost always at the worst moment. Boomworks Hydraulics runs mobile hose service across both banks, from Elmwood loading docks to the Harvey Canal yards, with assemblies priced at $150 to $450 per section installed, sized and rated to the circuit they serve.

Matching a hydraulic hose is more than matching the ends. Pressure rating, bend radius, abrasion cover, and fluid compatibility all matter, and the difference shows up in how long the replacement lives. We also carry the adapter fittings that older cranes and marine equipment love to hide, which is often the difference between a one visit fix and a parts hunt.

Hard lines, the rigid tubing on booms and truck frames, fabricate at the bench: bent to match, flared or fitted to spec, in carbon or stainless. Full pricing for both lives in the cost guide, and a leak survey with any hose call is free to ask for, because the hose that blew is rarely the only one aging.

Hose questions

A hose blew and dumped oil everywhere. What do I do first?

Shut the machine down, get the load safe if the boom will still move on the remaining circuits, and do not restart it dry. Running a pump on an empty reservoir kills the pump too. Call us, tell us the hose size if you can read it, and we roll with stock to match.

Why do my hoses keep failing at the same spot?

Routing. A hose that rubs, kinks at full boom extension, or bends tighter than its rated radius will fail there every time, no matter whose hose it is. When we replace a repeat offender we re route or re clock it, which is the actual fix.

Is stainless hard line worth the extra cost here?

Near the river and the canal, yes. Carbon steel lines rust from the outside in on machines that live in salt air, and stainless pays for itself the first time you skip a rusted line replacement. Inland fleets can usually skip it.
