Boomworks Hydraulics fleet programs exist to trade surprises for line items.
The mechanics are simple. Scheduled fluid and filter service with oil sampling runs $350 to $700 per truck by reservoir size. Walk around inspections with leak surveys run $150 to $300 per truck, timed to your season: spring before hurricanes for storm fleets, pre turnaround for refinery contractors, before the busy season for everyone else. Findings come back in writing, priced off the published guide, and you decide what gets fixed when.
What the program really buys is sequencing. A cylinder that gets resealed in April costs $800 to $1,500 and zero downtime, because you picked the week. The same cylinder failing during September storm work costs the reseal plus the emergency call plus the crew standing under a boom that quit. Same seal kit, very different invoice.
Fleet questions
How small a fleet is worth a program?
Two trucks. The program is a schedule and a standard, not a minimum billing commitment. A two truck tree service gets the same fluid sampling, leak surveys, and priority dispatch as a twenty truck utility contractor, priced per truck.
What does oil sampling actually catch?
Wear metals before you can hear them. Bronze and iron in a sample mean a pump or motor is shedding, water means a seal or breather is letting the outside in, and silicon means dirt. Each of those, caught in a $60 sample, is a scheduled repair instead of a stranded truck.
Can you align inspections with our OSHA annuals?
Yes, and you should. The hydraulic findings that annual crane inspections flag, drift, leak down, weeping cylinders, are exactly what our PM inspections measure. Doing ours a month ahead means your annual closes clean instead of generating a repair deadline.
What does priority dispatch mean when a storm hits?
Program fleets go to the front of the emergency queue. After a landfall, when every boom in the metro is working and half are breaking, that queue position is worth more than everything else in the program combined.
